Entab is one of India’s longer-established school software companies and CampusCare is widely deployed in CBSE and convent schools. Because most schools considering it have or will have years of history in one system, the decision that matters is data portability — whether your records come out intact, with the schemes they were created under.
Long-established school software carries an advantage that newer products cannot match: it has been through many board changes, many report card revisions and many audit cycles at real schools. That is genuine and worth something.
The right-hand column below is what to ask them, not what we claim about them. We publish SchoolDeck and do not track other vendors’ current feature sets; anything material should be verified with the vendor directly.
Choose on portability and continuity rather than on feature count. A school with a decade of history should weight "can I get all of it out, with its schemes, myself" above any module comparison, and should apply that test to us as strictly as to anyone else.
| What you are comparing | TurtleDock | Entab CampusCare |
|---|---|---|
| Self-service export | A button in the admin — structured files, all data, no ticket | Ask: can we export everything ourselves today, without support? |
| Historical grading schemes | Versioned per academic year and exported with the marks | Ask: does a 2019 mark export with the 2019 scheme? |
| Reprinting old report cards | Reproduces the format and key of the year issued | Ask them to reprint a two-year-old card and compare it to the original |
| Fee ledger continuity | Full receipt series exports, including cancellations with reasons | Ask: does the export include the receipt series and cancelled entries? |
| Access after termination | Read-only access for a defined period, stated in the contract | Ask what happens to access on the day the contract ends |
| Track record | Newer; fewer years of board changes survived | Long-established in Indian schools |
Features can be added; a lost decade of fee history cannot be reconstructed. When a school has years of records in a system, the switching cost is dominated entirely by what comes out and in what shape.
This cuts against us as much as for us. If you buy SchoolDeck, you should be able to leave it, and the same five questions above are the ones to put to our sales team. We answer them in writing.
A company that has supported schools through many board revisions has institutional knowledge that does not appear in any feature list — the peculiarities of particular boards, the failure modes of particular returns, the shape of a results fortnight.
If your school is conservative, your processes are settled, and your current system works, "it is older" is not a reason to move. We would rather say that than win a deal a school regrets.
Phrased the way they arrive, answered so each one stands on its own.
From its exports, yes — students, staff, fee history and results import from standard structured files. We validate the exports before anything goes live so gaps surface early rather than at results time.
That you can produce a complete export from your current system, yourself, today. If you cannot, that is the finding — and it is worth resolving before choosing where to go.
