SchoolDeck accepts school fee payments by UPI, card, net banking and wallet through a payment gateway, posts each one against the specific instalment and fee head it was intended for, and issues a receipt automatically. Cash and cheque taken at the counter post to the same ledger.
Gateway charges are set by the gateway and passed through at cost. We do not take a percentage of collections.
Taking the payment is the easy part. The expensive part is what happens afterwards: a UPI credit lands in the bank, and somebody has to work out which of four Sharmas it belongs to and which instalment it settles.
A payment credited to a general balance is easy to record and impossible to reconcile. Which head was settled? Was the transport component paid, or the tuition? When the term ends and a family disputes what they owe, a running balance cannot answer.
Every payment here settles a named instalment against a named head. Part payments settle proportionally or by priority, depending on the rule you set, and the remainder stays visible against the instalment it belongs to.
Cash at the counter, a cheque that will clear on Thursday, and forty UPI credits overnight are three different things arriving through three different routes. They belong in one ledger by the time the accountant looks at the day.
Gateway settlements are matched against the payments they represent, so the figure in the bank and the figure in the fee register are reconcilable rather than approximately similar. Cheques sit as pending until cleared rather than being counted twice.
