Choose a college ERP on whether it can model your examination scheme and produce a correct transcript for a difficult student — one with a backlog, an out-of-department elective and a moderated mark. Feature lists do not separate these products; that single test does.

Higher-education software is bought on a demo and lived with for a decade. The demo shows admissions and a dashboard, because those look good. It does not show a transcript for a student who failed one course in semester three, took an open elective from another department, and had a moderated internal mark.
That student exists in every college, and producing their transcript correctly is the thing the system either does or does not do.
Send the examination scheme in advance and ask each vendor to configure it before the call: components and weightings, moderation rules, grade mapping with its rounding rule, backlog and repeat handling, and any best-of provisions.
A vendor who cannot configure your scheme in advance will not configure it in implementation either. This single request eliminates more of a shortlist than any other.
Feature counts, mobile app screenshots, and AI features described without saying what they do. Every product in this category has admissions, attendance and examinations. The differences are in how the difficult cases are handled, and those never appear on a comparison grid.
Also discount the demo dashboard entirely. Nobody at your institution will look at it after the first month, and it is the most heavily invested-in screen in most products precisely because it sells.

Per-student annual pricing is the norm in India. Compare total cost including implementation, per-user licences, SMS credits and gateway charges rather than the headline per-student rate.
