SchoolDeck holds staff records, leave balances and attendance, and runs monthly payroll with statutory deductions — PF, ESI, professional tax and TDS — producing salary slips and the registers a school is required to keep. Teacher availability feeds the timetable and substitution flow directly.
It computes payroll and produces the returns data; filing with the authorities remains the school’s responsibility and is not automated.
Staff data usually lives somewhere else — a separate payroll package, or an accountant’s spreadsheet. That is workable until the timetable needs to know who is on leave on Thursday, and the answer is in a file nobody in the staff room can open.
A teacher marked on leave in the HR system should be unavailable in the timetable within the same minute, and their periods should already be proposed for cover. Where the two systems are separate, that handoff is a phone call, and it happens at 7:50 in the morning.
Teacher qualification and subject mapping also feed the pupil–teacher ratio and the staff section of the UDISE+ return, both of which are otherwise rebuilt by hand each year from an out-of-date list.
The parts that generate queries if they are wrong, and when they surface.
| Component | Where it comes from | Surfaces as |
|---|---|---|
| Earned salary | Attendance and approved leave for the month | A query the same week the slip is issued |
| PF and ESI | Wage ceilings and eligibility per employee | A mismatch at the annual return |
| Professional tax | State slab for the school’s location | Wrong for every employee, quietly, until audited |
| TDS | Declared investments and projected annual income | A large correction in February that nobody budgeted for |

Yes. Leave types, salary structures and attendance rules are set per staff category, and only teaching staff feed the timetable and substitution flow.
Yes, through the staff login, with historical slips retained. This removes the most common recurring request the office handles for staff.
