DigiLocker gives students digital access to board-issued documents — mark sheets, certificates — that the issuing board pushes to it. It reduces requests for duplicate board documents. It does not carry documents the school itself issues, which is where most counter traffic comes from.
Procedures, portal screens and deadlines change, and several have changed recently. Confirm the current circular from the issuing authority before acting on any timing or step here.
Schools are often told DigiLocker will end document requests. It ends one kind: a former student wanting another copy of their board mark sheet. The transfer certificate, the bonafide and the character certificate are issued by the school, and those requests keep arriving.
Two of the three stay with the school, which is worth knowing before a plan is built around the third.
A document in DigiLocker carries whatever the board holds, which came from what the school filed. A name misspelt on the LOC appears misspelt in DigiLocker, and now the student can see it. That is an improvement — the error was always there — but it produces a wave of queries the first year, and they are queries about records, not about the platform.
Phrased the way they arrive, answered so each one stands on its own.
It is designed around documents issued by an issuing authority such as a board. School-issued certificates are not generally covered, so plan on continuing to issue them yourself.
They need an account and their records to match what the board holds. Mismatched names or dates of birth are the usual reason a document does not appear.
It reduces duplicate board document requests. It does not touch school-issued certificates or verification requests, which is most of the volume.
