A Karnataka state board school runs SSLC at Class 10 under KSEAB and identifies students by their SATS number. Above Class 10, Pre-University is a separate stage with its own structure — which is why a school running both is, operationally, two institutions in one building.
Board nomenclature and portal processes change, and several boards have reorganised recently. Confirm the current circular for your own board before relying on any filing detail here.
The distinction Karnataka schools make immediately, and that software usually misses, is that PUC is not Class 11 and 12 with a different name. It has its own admission, its own combinations and its own examination, and a school running SSLC and PUC together is running two cycles that only share a campus.
SSLC and PUC have separate admission processes, separate combination structures, separate examination calendars and separate result formats. A student continuing from SSLC into I PUC at the same institution is admitted afresh into PUC rather than promoted, and the two enrolments have to be linked on the record without being merged into one continuous class sequence.
Software that models Classes 1 to 12 as a single ladder forces the school to pretend PUC is Class 11, and every result document downstream inherits that pretence.
The SATS number identifies the student to the state and follows them between schools, so it belongs on the record as its own field, validated on entry and preserved on transfer-in rather than replaced by a local admission number.
SSLC results carry both marks and a grade under a defined scheme. Both are stored: deriving a grade from marks at print time is fine, but reconstructing marks from a stored grade loses information the school will be asked for.
Phrased the way they arrive, answered so each one stands on its own.
Yes, as two stages with their own structures, calendars and result formats, linked on the student record so the history is continuous even though the enrolments are not.
Yes. SATS, the school’s admission number, UDISE and any APAAR ID are distinct fields; a transfer-in student keeps the SATS number already allotted.
Yes, per section medium, with the board’s own subject nomenclature.
