Online coaching, where attendance means something different

For online coaching, TutorDesk records attendance from your existing class platform, runs online test series with proctoring flags, handles fee collection across geographies, and tracks engagement — because presence in a video call is a much weaker signal than presence in a room.

We do not host video. Classes run on whatever platform you already use, and attendance is imported from it.

Online coaching solved distribution and created a measurement problem. A student logged into a class for ninety minutes may have been present, or may have joined and left the room, and the difference matters enormously for retention.

01

Presence is not attendance

A join event is the weakest possible attendance signal. Better ones — time actually connected, responses to in-class polls, questions asked, test participation that week — are available from most platforms and together give a usable picture.

This is worth getting right because online retention is materially worse than in-person, and the students who are about to leave are visible in this data weeks earlier than they are in the fee ledger.

02

Proctoring, and what it can honestly claim

Online test proctoring flags anomalies: tab switching, a long unexplained pause, an answer pattern inconsistent with the student’s history. It does not prove cheating and should never be presented as doing so.

A flag is a prompt to look, and the decision is a human one. Products claiming to detect cheating reliably in a home environment are overstating what is possible, and acting on their output without review is how centres end up accusing honest students.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Phrased the way they arrive, answered so each one stands on its own.

Does TutorDesk host online classes?

No. Classes run on whatever platform you already use. We record attendance, tests, fees and engagement rather than the video stream.

How is online attendance measured?

From join and duration data imported from your class platform, alongside engagement signals such as poll responses and test participation. A join event on its own is a weak signal.

Is test proctoring reliable?

It flags anomalies for human review. It does not prove cheating, and any product claiming reliable detection in a home environment is overstating what is achievable.
